The Wawa Pee Wee Travelers won gold on the weekend of Nov 5-7. The first game which was the players, first game of the season, saw us playing the host Schreiber team. It didn’t take long for our boys and girls to get on the board scoring two goals in the first minute and leading from there to a 6-1 victory. MVP Devon Lacasse-Langlois.
Game Two was against a strong Nipigon team. It was a close back and forth game with Nipigon leading 2-1 going into the third when we managed to tie it up. The game went to a shootout where we scored and just like all games, our goaltending was superb stopping all Nipigon’s shooters. MVP Nick Paradis.
The third game against Manitouwadge and a win guaranteeing us first place in the round robin our offence and defence were lights out again as we skated to a 6-1 victory. MVP Noah Vandal.
Game four and our third of the day we battled Marathon. We came out scoring three quick goals in the first and only allowed one against again taking it 3-1. MVP Mackenzie Laing.
With a perfect 4 and 0 record we finished the round robin in first and had to face the fourth place Manitouwadge Copper Kings in the sem-final. Our players came out rejuvenated and showed their skills as they skated to a 6-1 victory. MVP Nash Lewis.
The Championship game saw a rematch against Nipigon. Our team cam out flying scoring the first goal 44 seconds in and another at the 1:17 mark. With some great plays by all and timely saves we came away with the Championship by a score of 4-1. MVP Cameron Moore.
For our first games of the year the boys and girls played extremely well on all fronts offensively, defensively and great goaltending. Your parents and the coaching staff are extremely proud of you. Our next tournaments are Timmins November 26 – 28 then Sault Ste. Marie December 3 – 5. Good luck.
