The Wawa Pee Wee Travelers won silver on the weekend of Nov.28th-30th in Timmins. After traveling through the snow we played our first game against the Nickel Centre Flyers. Our team started off ok but after the Flyers scored our team didn’t seem to have their regular jump and we lost our first game of the season 5-0. MVP Dawson Bernath
Game two was against the favorite Timmins North Stars. Timmins came out flying scoring 3 unanswered goals in the first period. After getting two penalties and being short handed 5on 3 one of our defensive stars scored a shorthanded goal which seem to reignite our team. They went on controlling the rest of the game and winning by a score of 6-3. MVP Felix Bernard
With our momentum high game 3 against the Schumacher Gold Corp. see our boys and girls playing at a higher level that we expected from them. They took an early lead; with both of our goalies making timely saves and winning by a score of 6-1. MVP Cameron Moore
We finished second overall in the round robin which meant a rematch against the Timmins North Stars. We knew they would want revenge for giving up a 3 goal lead in the first game. We got up to an early lead in the first; then after trading goals in the second we were up 2-1 going into the third period. After getting into penalty trouble they tied the game. Our players just kept playing harder and retook the lead around the 3 min mark. Timmins kept coming and our goalie kept making big saves when we needed, then we sealed the victory with an empty net goal. MVP Nick Paradis
The Championship game was against the high flying well rested Flyers. They didn’t play there semi-final game as the other team didn’t show up. We jumped out to an early lead in the game but the Flyers came back getting some lucky bounces taking a 2-1 lead into the second. After tying the game the Flyers got another lucky bounce and had a 3-2 lead going into the third. In the third we traded goals and we pulled the goalie with 1:20 left on the clock. The Flyers just missed the open net. With little time left we drew up a plan and it worked out perfectly as we scored with 13 seconds left in regulation. Overtime was exciting and we held the Flyers in there end for most of it, then on a broken play and a great shot they scored with 13 seconds left on the clock. MVP Tyler Morgan
After a slow start the team made the adjustments to play at the higher level of hockey. The coaching staff and your parents are extremely proud of all of you , keep up the good work.
