How old does my child have to be to play minor hockey?
Children as young as 3 can register for our Initiation (Timbits) program.
Wawa Minor Hockey Association has divisions for all age categories which follows Hockey Canada’s guidelines.
Initiation (ages 6 & under)
Novice (ages 7-8)
Atom (ages 9-10)
Peewee (ages 11-12)
Bantam (ages 13-14)
Midget (ages 15-17)

When does the hockey season start and end?
The hockey season generally goes from mid September to late March.
Does the WMHA have any loaner equipment?
Yes, but equipment is limited and is first-come, first-served. Please contact the equipment manager or any executive memeber for more information.
My child wants to play hockey, but we can't afford it. Are there any sponsorship programs available?
Yes, the Wawa Minor Hockey Association has the “Big Puck” sponsorship program to help young players who would not otherwise be able to play hockey. Please contact the association for more information.
How often will my child be on the ice?
Initiation aged children get a maximum of 2 hours of ice time per week.
Novice to Midget aged children are scheduled to receive 4 hours of ice time per week.
Children who sign up for house league generally receive 3 hours of ice time per week.
