How old does my child have to be to play minor hockey?
Wawa Minor Hockey Association has divisions for all age categories which follows Hockey Canada’s guidelines.
Initiation (ages 6 & under)
Novice (ages 7-8)
Atom (ages 9-10)
Peewee (ages 11-12)
Bantam (ages 13-14)
Midget (ages 15-17)
When does the hockey season start and end?
Does the WMHA have any loaner equipment?
My child wants to play hockey, but we can't afford it. Are there any sponsorship programs available?
How often will my child be on the ice?
Novice to Midget aged children are scheduled to receive 4 hours of ice time per week.
Children who sign up for house league generally receive 3 hours of ice time per week.
*** Please note the scheduled amount of ice times will vary depending on numerous factors throughout the season (house league vs travel team, number of scheduled tournaments, special events, etc).
